Control4 Home Automation Brings Style to Your Technology
Elegant Tech Integration for Sophisticated Westport Living
Integrating modern technology into a luxury home often presents a recurring challenge for interior designers. While clients expect the convenience of a connected home, the hardware required to support those features can easily clutter a carefully curated aesthetic. Traditional builds often result in "wall acne," with clusters of mismatched switches, thermostats, and intercoms throughout the house.
At Digital Home Systems, we partner with interior designers throughout Westport, CT, to deliver home automation that doesn’t become an eyesore. With Control4, we move technology into the background while still providing your clients with all the tech features they want. Aesthetics and functionality don’t have to battle it out with the right planning up front.

Designer Finishes and Custom Keypads
In a typical high-end residence, a single room might require controls for overhead lighting, accent lamps, motorized shades, and climate. Instead of a bank of five or six plastic switches, we install a single, elegant Control4 keypad.
The Control4 Lux line is specifically engineered for high-design environments. These flush-mounted, premium metal faceplates are available in finishes such as satin nickel, antique bronze, and matte black. These finishes are selected to coordinate directly with other hardware or to disappear into the surroundings. They come with custom-engraved, backlit buttons for clearly labeled scenes like "Art," "Evening," or "Privacy."
Hiding the Gear, Not the Experience
True luxury often lies in what you cannot see. It’s why so many of our interior design partners opt for minimalist designs. To maintain the purity of a room’s design, we utilize centralized equipment racks to house the "brains" of the home. By placing cable boxes, amplifiers, and processors in a dedicated, ventilated closet or basement area, we eliminate the need for bulky media furniture and exposed wiring in the living spaces.
This "invisible" philosophy extends to audio and video components as well. Architectural speakers, for example, live within the walls. Once finished over with paint or wallpaper, these speakers become completely invisible while delivering immersive sound throughout the room. For displays, we integrate motorized lifts or Seura TV mirrors that conceal the screen when it is not in use. Instead, a custom mirror or a piece of fine art takes center stage until the client is ready for a movie.
Visit Our Showroom to See It In Action
We encourage interior designers to bring their clients to our nearby showroom to experience these systems firsthand before construction begins. Seeing a "Dinner" scene in action—where lighting dims to a specific percentage, shades lower for privacy, and music begins to play at a soft volume—helps clients understand the lifestyle value of an integrated home.
Our team works alongside architects and designers to provide detailed CAD drawings and engineering schematics for where every sensor and keypad will live. To ensure long-term reliability, we offer remote monitoring. This platform allows our technicians to identify and resolve minor connectivity issues behind the scenes so your clients’ lifestyles are as uninterrupted as their decor.
By addressing technology during the planning phase, deliver a finished product that is completely in line with your work. We look forward to speaking with you about your next project. Click here to get in touch with our team today.
